2 Way Communications

The influence of social media is not a new concept whatsoever and it's a given that our society is heavily persuaded by what is popular. Since it is so intertwined into our day to day life, social media has a responsibility to the people to demonstrate healthy interaction towards others. They let down our youth who are impressionable and jump on any bandwagon of what they think is cool. Parents play an important role in discussing with their children the topics they are being exposed to online so at least they are informed. However, most websites do a poor job at regulating the misinformation and hate that is spewed across the internet. Media has the capability to spread awareness about important topics but they aren't living up to their potential.

  1. I completely agree with you that parents need to be more involved in preparing their kids for the online world, but struggle to find the line between protecting your kids and trusting their judgement - then again, a lot of adults struggle to do that themselves. I believe that people should be taught to look deeper than face value, to ask questions, but also not to take everything you see online so seriously.
